Privacy policy
The short version. Blubing is a messenger that works only over Bluetooth. It has no servers and no accounts, and it can't access the internet. We don't collect, receive or store any of your information. Your chats live on your phone, and messages travel directly between phones, end-to-end encrypted.
Who we are
Blubing is made by R92 Corporation ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Blubing app for Android and this website, blubing.com.
What we collect
Nothing. The app doesn't request Android's internet permission, so it can't send data to us or to anyone else online. It has no analytics, no advertising SDKs, no crash reporting and no third-party trackers. We have no server, so we never receive your messages, contacts, location or profile.
What stays on your phone
The app stores the following only on your device, in its private storage:
- Your profile: the name, emoji, colour, status, interests and optional gender you choose.
- Your identity keys, which are created on your phone and never leave it.
- Your chats and groups, including messages, photos, files and voice notes.
- The people you've met ("crossed paths"), so you can find them again. You can turn this off in Settings.
- Board posts from people nearby, which expire after a few hours.
- Sealed messages you're carrying for other people, if you leave carrying turned on. You can't read these.
Android cloud backup is disabled for Blubing, so this data isn't copied to Google Drive or any other backup service. Uninstalling the app, or using its panic wipe, deletes all of it.
What other people nearby can see
To appear on someone's radar, your phone broadcasts a small profile card over Bluetooth to phones within range that are running Blubing. The card contains your name, emoji, colour, status, interests, optional gender and public keys. Anyone nearby with Blubing open can see it. Turn on ghost mode to see others without broadcasting your card to them.
Messages, photos, files and voice notes are end-to-end encrypted. They can be read only by the person or group you send them to. If a message hops through other phones to reach someone, those phones can't read it.
Posts to the Here room and to the board are public to everyone in range. Each post is signed with your key, so others can tell it came from you.
Find my friend shares nothing until the other person agrees. It then measures Bluetooth signal strength on your phone to estimate distance, and stops after 10 minutes. It doesn't use GPS or location services.
Permissions the app asks for
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
| Nearby devices (Bluetooth scan, advertise, connect) | To find people nearby and exchange messages with them. Blubing declares that it doesn't use Bluetooth scans to work out your location. |
| Notifications | To tell you about new messages and game moves. |
| Camera | Only to scan a Blubing identity code when you open the scanner. |
| Microphone | Only while you record a voice note. |
| Biometrics | Only if you turn on app lock. |
| Run in the background, start at boot, ignore battery optimisation | To keep you reachable when the app isn't open. |
| Vibration | For haptic feedback in chats and games. |
Photos and files are read only when you pick them yourself, through Android's own picker.
Children
Blubing isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly let them use it. We collect no data from anyone, so there's no children's data for us to hold or delete.
Your choices and rights
Because everything is on your phone, you're in control of it. You can edit your profile, clear or delete chats, block people, turn on ghost mode, turn off crossed paths, or erase everything with panic wipe. We hold no personal data about you, so there's nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf. If you have a question, email us anyway and we'll answer.
This website
blubing.com is a static site hosted on Cloudflare. It doesn't use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. To deliver the pages and protect against abuse, Cloudflare processes standard request data such as your IP address and browser type under its own privacy policy. We don't use this data to identify you.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the effective date above. If a change affects what the app does with your data, we'll also say so in the app's release notes.
